I started work as a magazine writer in 1979 (my first job was at Female Magazine, published by MPH Magazines). Through the years, I dabbled in public relations, advertising and corporate communications but came back to writing and journalism time and again. I worked as a sub-editor and an editor for various magazines, while raising three daughters and minding ailing parents.
Working at Family Magazine (MediaCorp Publishing), the best fun I had was composing 500 word articles for a column called Family Daze. (The most dreary thing to do at the time was to meet with advertisers and kow-tow to their demands.) Family Daze managed to garner a collection of appreciative readers who looked forward to the last page of the magazine every month.
